Medicine Hat

The city of medicine Hat always has something for everybody. Local events, like for instance the Spectrum Sunshine Festival, Family Leisure Centre, Police Point Park, Medicine Hat Speedway and the Medicine Hat Motorplex, Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, Canada Day and the Sandfly Festival, Medicine Hat JazzFest are some of the common places of interest, to mention some. The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede (or otherwise called MHE&S) is a "Not for Profit" volunteer community service organization, established in order to provide Medicine Hat City and District with events, facilities and programs. The Esplanade was made in the year 2005 as one of Alberta's Centennial Legacy Projects. It combines museum, performing arts theatre and art under one roof. Echo Dale Regional Park is the largest park system of Medicine Hat. It consists of a scenic riverbanks and hiking trails on the South Saskatchewan River Valley. There are also two man made lakes which can be utilized for boating and another utilized for swimming.

The Parks and Outdoor Recreation Department manages the urban landscape and maintains the highest standards in building different outdoor leisure and recreation opportunities. They maintain the flowerbed, trails, shrub beds and trees, grounds, natural areas, campground management, outdoor recreations amenities, outdoor facilities, and cemetery operations. For golf lovers, they can select from lots of golf courses obtainable all over. Cottonwood Golf Course is located in southwest Medicine Hat along the banks of the Seven persons Creek, Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club is located along the north banks of the southwest Saskatwechan River; Rose Creek Par 3 is situated along the banks of the Bullshead Creek and Paradise Valley Par 3 is located along the banks of the Seven Persons Creek; the Links at Desert Blume are located immediately south of the city and Riverview Golf Course is located within Redcliff along the banks of the south Saskatwechan River; Advantage Golf Academy, located at Cottonwood Coulee Golf Course, is Medicine Hat's only full time golf instructional facility.

Medicine Hat city is situated on the Canadian Pacific Rail main line as well as the trans-Canada Highway. These transportation networks enable the various industries and businesses better access to the other trading networks across the North America and allows for better access to the outgoing Pacific ports. Medicine Hat City does not impose a business tax, because their whole tax system is property-based. It also distributes and manages its own electric utilities and natural gas. The dividends from these utilities are then shared along with taxpayers, that consequently results in less tax and utility rates in the country.
