Crane Operator Classes Alberta - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting equipment. The course is suitable for both current and new operators. Course content addresses relevant provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The training's first part involves comprehensive in-class lessons and examination. Following that is a hands-on customized session along with practical instruction and assessment.

The content of the course applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting crane devices. The instruction would particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that could be performed at the workplace of the trainee. Upon completion of the course, people training will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, attachments and related components efficiently and safely.

The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator might develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be avoided with correct habits. Training reduces the chance of a workplace incident or injury taking place.

The length of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants would be graded on their understanding of training material through written testing and an assessment of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.

During the in-class session, participants would learn applicable guidelines and legislation, causes of damages and occurrences, danger awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, pre-shift equipment checks, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, operator/pedestrian safety, angles and hitches, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for slingers and operators.

The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training component is one to two hours. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor on skills like for instance planning the lift, right rigging practices and safe operation.

Upon completion of the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write a test. Signed safety rules will be required from each and every participant. Individual wallet certificates would be given to trainees who are successful. A framed wall certificate will be provided to the company.
